Great tourist attraction, with plenty to see and do, interactive with volunteers on hand to share there passion and knowledge
Visitors should note that Hexham Abbey is now closed for essential repairs (no admittance during this time), reopening towards the end of February. Museum remains open as does award winning Refectory.
A true representation of the history of Hexham. A truly interesting place which offers events and choir services as well as tours of the parts of the abbey. The refectory Cafe is also one of the cosiest and most pleasant coffee shops in town, and the abbey exhibition just next to it is another true spectacle of urban history. Bring a coat though, can get quite chilly in there :)
I absolutely love Hexham Abbey it is such a beautiful place. The staff on site are so welcoming and friendly and on hand to guide you and give you valuable information. There is also the option of an audio tour which I didn't take but plan too next time. There's a small museum with artifacts and a wonderful tearoom. The stained glass windows are amazing and for the sheer size of the place it's actually hot such a lovely warm feel to it. I will definitely visit again
Wonderful place and an equally wonderful steward John. People like him make all the difference to a visit.Thank you so much for your time and conversation
