I'm from Acomb but moved away 10 years ago and have just been up to visit for the weekend with my husband, daughter, her partner, their 5 month old baby and two dogs. We stayed two nights at the Mariners and we couldn't have been happier. Very dog friendly and both dogs made themselves very at home. Rooms very clean and spacious and breakfast was delicious. I have known Alec and Wendy for years and it was so lovely to see they haven't changed and the pub has retained its character. Margaret, the bar tender/cook, was so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again.
Just spent a night camping with my daughter and nephew. Couldn't recommend enough, fantastic place to stay. Bar on the doorstep handy for a few pints and the kids loved having a game of pool. Made to feel very welcome in every way by the staff who went above and beyond what they had to do even jump starting my motor in the morning as I'd ran the battery dead! Another thing to note; super dog friendly, take them in the pub even not a problem. Many thanks to Alec, Wendy and Margaret!We will be back soon.
Lovely little place in a beautiful setting. We have just spent 3 nights camping in the gardens. We were made to feel very welcome and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. Very child and dog friendly.
Out of date country pub. Fantastic atmosphere and superbly friendly staff. Wonderful little pub to visit but pity they didn't do Sunday dinners. Slightly out of the way but well worth the detour.
